‘The Art of Afternoon Tea’

24th March 2025

The quintessentially British tradition that epitomises elegance and indulgence.

Originating in the 19th century, the new concept was introduced by the Duchess of Bedford who requested a light meal to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner.

Given her influence, it didn’t take long before other ladies of society started to host their own tea parties and so, Afternoon Tea was born.

Over time, it became a cherished social occasion, a symbol of refinement and relaxation.

Manor House’s Twist…It’s all in the detail!

Our chefs discuss their thoughts & ideas, making drawings of their proposed concept of patisseries. These sketches allow us to see the layers, colours and aesthetics of each creation.

Our mouths are literally watering before the real work begins of bringing the drawings to life! We then have the exciting task of choosing our favourite four based on presentation & taste.

You’ll find these exquisite delicacies, served upon three tiers of William Reed china, alongside freshly baked scones, served warm with clotted cream & homemade jam.

Our savoury offerings & precision cut finger sandwiches are made with the finest ingredients, to provide the perfect balance.

To complete the experience, we offer an expertly curated tea selection. Our Tea & Tisane menu features 8 individual blends of ethically sourced loose-leaf tea, including our very own Manor House Blend.

This spring, 16th – 27th April you can expect pastel-hued patisseries, indulgent chocolate delights, & the freshest flavours, all beautifully themed for Easter.

Whether you’re celebrating Easter with loved ones or simply treating yourself, this limited-edition offering is not to be missed.
